Hangzhou Carries out Special Inspection Work on Foreigner employment

To further strengthen the management of the employment of foreigners in Hangzhou and ensure the legitimate interests of foreign employers. From mid- November to mid-December, Hangzhou Immigration Employment Management Services Department carries out the special inspection on the employment of foreigners. The inspection is divided into self-examination, rectification, sampling these three stages and it lasts about a month.

Miao Mingjun: Help 400 Foreigners Settle in Hangzhou

毛铭俊Miao Mingjun, born in Lin’an, graduated from university in 2003 and to be a civil servant in Hangzhou. He felt that he was not suitable for eight-to-five and unchallenged life, so he spent three years transforming into a “first person of Hangzhou Foreign Real Estate Broker “. In April 2006, he set up his own agency, Maos Real Estate service (Maos), which provides foreigners working in Hangzhou with rent and foreign domestic services.

The unique culture of Hangzhou

Hangzhou is a beautiful with a long history. During the thousand history, it has formed its unique culture. Today, I wil introduce these culture to you.

  • Poetry Literature

As one of the seven ancient capitals in China , Hangzhou is a famous historic and cultural city. Fertile land, rich products, it was away from war and became a  literary poet’s centralized location. Many famous poets in history, such as Bai Juyi, Su Shi all had been official in Hangzhou. They have created numerous poems for Hangzhou.

  • Folk Literature—”The Butterfly Lovers”

Ranked among China’s four major folklore, The Butterfly Lovers is famous both at home and abroad. It has been adapted into various art forms. Hangzhou is the birthplace of Butterfly Lovers legend. Wansong Academy is the place where they studied.  The another famous folk tale is “White Snake”. It began to spread from Southern Song Dynasty, and later spread to Japan, Korea and so on. White Snake has a great contribution on the history, folklore and art. Lady Bai has become China’s important typical image in works of art.

  • Living Environment

“Up above there is Paradise, down here there are Suzhou and Hangzhou.” Living in Hangzhou is like in paradise. The climate of Hangzhou is appropriate, which is typical of the Jiangnan Water. People living the Hangzhou has gentle character and handsome appearance. “Wu dialect” is also a characteristic. Rich products, beautiful scene, all of these make Hangzhou won the reputation of “Habitat Award”,”International Garden City”. Hangzhou’s cuisine is also a feature.

  • Silk Culture

Hangzhou has a reputation of “silk house”. The history of silk is as long as human beings. Early ancestors had mastered the species of mulberry, sericulture and other techniques during Liangzhu culture. Through the development, it later became a royal tribute, called “the world’s crown”. After the start of Hangzhou silk exports to the world, “Silk Road” was beginning famous in the world. Silk is gorgeous, rich and harmonious, which is coincide with Hangzhou people’s temperament. Hangzhou Silk is suitable for decoration, magnificent but useful, to be known as the “flower of oriental art.”






Hangzhou’s Three most Beautiful Night Cruises

As the saying goes :”Up above there is Paradise, down here there are Suzhou and Hangzhou.” Hangzhou is a city of water, and it is on the water is where you can really experience the charm of Hangzhou. The most beautiful night cruises are in the Grand Canal, West Lake, and the Qiantang River. Standing on the paddle boat, breezing cold air, enjoying the beautiful night scene, how romantic it is!

West Lake Night Cruise 西湖夜游

image002(5)West Lake is one of famous scenery spots of Hangzhou and West Lake night cruise is also an important source of entertainment. With differnet style boats,  from mid-April each year to mid-October, whenever you go, you will have the chance to have the excellent experience. The route starts from the five parks and ends back at the terminal, one round-trip around the lake takes about 50 minutes. There are three kinds of boats. One is Fang Song boat, which is the largest one. It can seat 70 to 80 people. Boarding generally begins at about 18:30 and from 19:00 onward a ship departs every hour. The smaller is recreational boat, which can seat about 40 to 50 people, leave about every 20 minutes. The last one is rowing boat and this is the smallest, just only seat about six people.

Canal Night Cruise运河夜游

Hangzhou Grand Canal has a history of more than a thousand years. Sitting on the boat, you can 大运河_副本enjoy the large cluster of ancient buildings on both shores.  The canal night cruise has large, medium and small vessels available. It starts from Wulin Gate at 7:30 pm  to Gongchen Qiao and the whole trip takes about one hour. Along the way you can see Emperor Qianlong’s Imperial Dock, the imperial granary, Qianlong Fang, the new Xiang Ji Temple, and the famous Jiangnan Bridge “Gong Chenqiao.”

Qiantang River Cruise钱塘江夜游

The Qiantang River cruise is also a great night cruise to take. Along the way, there are a lot of zj006beautiful sights to see and it passes through three locks. The trip starts from the Wulin pier heading south to the Grand Canal and the whole trip takes about 3 hours.
